Two weeks ago the academy gathered 9 of its teams and hit the road to compete in the 18th annual Great Carolina Shootout held in Myrtle Beach, SC. This tournament marked the midpoint of the fall season and was a great opportunity for the teams to showcase the progress they have made over the past 2 months. The tournament consisted of many quality teams from SC, NC, GA, and FL. This was a great opportunity for our academy to showcase its players and teams against some of the best competition in the southeast. All of our teams played extremely well and the coaches were very pleased with how their teams performed and carried themselves throughout the long weekend. By the end of the tournament DISA would see three of its teams finish as finalists and one crowned as champions. Our finalists were the girls u9 Gators, boys u10 Rangers, and the u13 ’00 Boyz. Our crowned tournament champions were the u13 ’00 Girlz. Congrats to all of our teams on a great showing, well done DISA!
DISA strives to provide a family atmosphere providing stewardship and service. One of our founders, Coach Ed Khouri mentors his past soccer students in coaching and giving back to the community. Several of his past pupils have been successful Coaches at Daniel Island Soccer Academy. Currently, coaches Adam Walker, Erik Cobb, Geordi Khoury, and Miles Campbell, to name a few.
Above: Patrick Khouri is volunteering his time away from FC Dallas Academy coaching the u8′s this week. He is part of the first team to represent Daniel Island Soccer Academy as, u13.
Last week a few DISA players were privileged to embark on the 2013 DISA Jamaica Soccer Tour. During the period of a little over a week, these players were able to view partake in a different culture, train, and play against some of the best competition Jamaica has to offer, including the u15 Jamaican National Team. NO Summer Training today (7/30/2013) due to the weather.
Congratulations to DISA’s very own, Akeel Crooks who has been selected to the USYSA 2013 Regional Pool. Two years ago former DISA player Patrick Khouri was selected to the USYSA 2011 Regional Pool before being selected to the National Squad. This is an amazing accomplishment for Akeel. Congrats to Akeel and a big thank you to all the DISA coaches that have helped in his development on and off the pitch over the past 7 years. Well done Akeel. Everyone at DISA is very proud!!!
