Congratulations to the Bishop England Varsity soccer team for a tremendous season, winning the Lower State Championship and advancing to the SC State High School Boys 3A State Soccer Finals. The Bishops were led this year by a powerful and tenacious group of Daniel Island Soccer Academy players including: Owen Cooper, Jacob Schirmer, Russell Mclaughlin, Ethan Kessler, Max Linder, Michael Still, Sean Fields, Riley Turcotte, Dalton Keith, Zack Michel, Ethan Teufel, Mathew Michel, Jake Highfield and Leo Blair.
Congratulations to Owen Cooper, the Bishops Captain and Goalkeeper for his scholarship to Lynn University where he will be playing soccer in the Fall! Owen started playing soccer with DISA when he was 8 years, as have Michael Still and Zak Michel. All the boys have grown into accomplished young men, both on and off the pitch. Our BE and DISA family wish Owen the best of success!
Coach Ed Khouri is also very proud to recognize several players earning prestigious awards this season to include: 2018 All State Team members (Jacob Schirmer, Russell Mclaughlin, Michael Still and Sean Fields), Defensive Player of the Year (Max Linder) and the Clash of Carolinas Select Goalkeeper for South Carolina (Owen Cooper).
Since 1984 The Bishops Men’s Soccer program has brought home 17 state titles, the most in South Carolina history, and 14 under the leadership of Coach Ed Khouri who remains committed to the development of our youth within the greater community.
